Olive grove flora
More photos of flowers from the Andalucian olive groves. This is a beautiful flower, which transforms through several very different phases; the final being a pretty light brown dried version which is great for dried flower arrangements. If you know what this is called, I would love to know. Please leave a comment.

Yellow
The display of wildflowers in the olive groves is amazing. The variety and colour is wonderful, although yellow is the predominant colour.

Olive grove or meadow?
The wildflowers are amazing this year and because of the cooler rainy weather we have had recently, the Spring display is going on for longer this year. The fields around here look more like meadows than olive groves.

Olive blossom
Olive blossom is very small and delicate. From a distance you hardly notice it; the trees just look a little lighter. This year there are loads of flowers. Let's hope that we have a bumper olive harvest!

Olive groves
Due to the recent rain and cooler temperatures, the olive groves are exceptionally green. I love this time of year!

Viboras reservoir
The main use of the reservoir is to supply drinking water (through a drinking water treatment station located in Martos) and irrigation, mainly the olive groves, which are dominant in the area.

Rock formation
The geology and rock formations are truly amazing at Cerro del Hierro. Located near San Nicolás del Puerto in the Natural Park Sierra Norte de Sevilla at 689 meters above sea level. It is a karst area of limestone rock rich in iron minerals, which has been mined since before the Romans until the middle of the 20th century. It is now a listed "monumento natural" for its interesting geology and landscape. The area is popular for trekking and climbing.

The first day of the relaxed lockdown
After 7 weeks of strict lockdown, the rules were relaxed yesterday in Spain. We can now go for walks; so I did..., with my Mamiya RB67. I developed and digitised the film last night. This is the village square. Still empty, with weeds growing in the flagstone joints. The bar is still shut, but hopefully, it will open on 11 May. Things are getting better!

Caterpillar
I thought this might be the Spanish Toxic Processionary Caterpillar, which is so deadly to dogs. Fortunately, an expert confirmed it's not.

Light and bokeh
A village street light with lake in the background. Spanish street lights can be very interesting; they are not just the same old boring street light all over the country. Different regions, and even towns, have their own bespoke design. Some are retro-styled, others are more modern. Compared to UK street lights, I think they are wonderful.

Dreams
Castillo de Víboras is located near Martos, next to the Sierra Caracolera, on a dominant rocky mound on the right bank of the Víboras river. Its construction originates from the ninth century. Although it is not the highest point in the area, it dominates the local landscape and can be seen from afar. I often walk my dogs in the area and wonder about its history.

A pretty tinao in Yegen
Not only does a tinao create extra space, but it also generates welcome shade. This one is in Calle Gerald Brenan in Yegen. Yegen is known for the famous for the English author, Gerald Brenan who lived there for several years. Not only did he have a local walk named in his honour, but a street as well!

This is my other dog, Flo (Florencia)
Flo was abandoned in our Spanish village as a puppy (vet estimated she was 9 months old). She was all skin and bone. I took pity on her and took her in. That was nearly two years ago. She's turned out to be a great dog!
