The former church of the Santo Domingo convent.
The former church hosts a permanent Semana Santa exhibition including the thrones and images of Holy Week, as well as the costumes and banners of the different brotherhoods. To the left of the church is the entrance to the Parador de Turismo.

Spanish burglar bars
In the olden days, they were placed to protect the honour of the ladies of the families. Now they are a security measure to stop burglars.

Acueducto De Plasencia
The aqueduct of Plasencia was built in the 16th century by Juan de Flandes, replacing an earlier one from the 12th century. It was used to supply water from the mountains of Cabezabellosa and El Torno. Locally it is known as Arcos de San Antón.

Plasencia Cathedral
The cathedral consists of two buildings: the old cathedral (Catedral Vieja), dedicated to Saint Paul, and the new (Catedral Nueva). Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the main cathedral, so photographs are limited to the atrium and other, mostly external, areas. This is the walkway around the courtyard.

Flowers from the olive groves of Andalucia
This is an amazing flower which transforms through 3, arguably 4, stages. It starts mostly white (flower on the left), then turns blue (middle) and then totally transforms into what looks like a head of trumpets (right). This dries into a brown shell, which remains for the whole summer, into autumn. Great for dried flower arranging.

Seedhead
These are very prolific in the Andalucian olive groves at the moment. Some of them are huge! They look like a dandelion seedhead, but they are not. I love the golden "strands" inside. They remind me of the filament in an Edison lightbulb.

After 30 years as a desktop ornament (by my daughter), I have started using my Pentax MX again. I have replaced the light seals and the mirror bump stop. This is the first photo after 30 years. Nothing special, just the corner of our courtyard patio. My first SLR is back!
